Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Karlo Nograles extended his gratitude to Filipino teachers, educators, and members of the academe for their profound impact on the lives of countless individuals.
Chairperson Nograles stated that the pandemic unequivocally established them as the often-overlooked heroes of the nation.
“On behalf of the 1.9 million civil servants and the nation, I extend my heartfelt thanks to you, our beloved teachers,” he said. “The sacrifices you continue to make, the long hours you willingly dedicate, and your influence that extends beyond the four walls of classrooms are proof of your unwavering commitment to the future of our nation.”
He noted that despite the unprecedented challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the demand to transition to remote and hybrid learning models, teachers adapted with resilience and creativity to ensure that education continue to reach every student’s household.
Chairperson Nograles also recognized the passion and dedication of three exemplary teachers during the CSC’s annual Search for Outstanding Government Workers, which recognizes government officials and employees who have displayed outstanding work performance and exemplary conduct and ethical behavior.
Master Teacher I Pablita R. Cabales from the Department of Education (DepEd) Manga National High School in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, received the 2022 CSC Pagasa Award for intensifying the school’s Gulayan sa Paaralan Program, transforming it into a certified Integrated Diversified Organic Farming System Learning Site and a benchmarking destination for local and foreign visitors.
Teacher III Rizalina Ramos Nacpil from DepEd San Manuel Elementary School in Tarlac City, was conferred the 2022 Outstanding Public Officials and Employees (Dangal ng Bayan) Award for her efforts in establishing Project Kaagapay Mo, nutrition centers, and greenhouse projects that resulted in decreased malnutrition, reduced student absenteeism, and a significant cut in school drop-out rate.
Another 2022 Dangal ng Bayan awardee is Head Teacher I Ju-Im Tefora Jimlan from DepEd Tamalagon Integrated School in Tangalan, Aklan, who was recognized for developing innovative teaching approaches and information materials such as Tuklas-Aral, Bisita-Kumustahan, Modyul mo, Hatod Ko, among others, as well as organizing donation drives for COVID-19 frontliners.
The teachers received their award from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr during the 2022 Search for Outstanding Government Workers Award, which was held last 8 March 2023 at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall, Malacañan Palace.
“Your work is not just a job; it is a noble calling that impacts one life at a time. This National Teachers’ Month, we are one with the whole country in honoring your efforts to hone young minds, and we stand with you in your mission to shape a brighter future for the Philippines through education,” Chairperson Nograles added.
The Philippines recently celebrated National Teachers’ Month from 5 September 2023 to 5 October 2023 with the theme “Together4Teachers.”
